A question about hamsters ?

Okaay. So today I bought a Syrian Hamster. He's so cute and all, the thing is, I don't know how to name him. I think it's a boy (I'm not sure tho', I'll check tomorrow), and I was probably thinking of naming him Sam and then sometimes calling him 'Sammy' ? So what do you think of this name, and if you have any other suggestions about names, tell me ! :)
